Hi
Done a search for above but got everything from windscreen glass to vanity mirrors! However nothing on replacing the mirror glass!
Anyone got a step by step; Im sure I read one on here recently but despite ages trawling havent found anything.
Finally I have folding heated mirrors; can I upgrade to auto dimming and is there anywhere you can get them for a reasonable cost??
Cheers in advance
Russ

Found this: http://www.unitedbimmer.com/forums/bmw-oem-parts-department-diys-faqs/615-how-change-your-side-mirror-glass.html

And this - How to replace...... http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=12299&hilit=bagsy&start=15

If you just want to remove the glass you will need to remove the black panel under the mirror.

Inside is a catch you need to slide with a screwdriver - this releases the mirror glass assembly from the motor assembly and it will drop out.

If you don't - you'll break it (like I did).

If you need clarification I'll try and get a pic.

That's not what my 'how to' says......... http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=12299&hilit=bagsy&start=15

OK, I understand that picture now but didn't before working on mine.

It shows the bayonet catch being release by pointing the mirror down, and inserting a screwdriver between the glass and painted housing.

Doing this by removing the plastic housing is just another option if you want to be extra careful and prevent scratches.
