Replacing Pre-LCI DRLs

Look like a pain in the ass to fit.

White bulbs do a decent job

Yeah I already fitted them and they’re not that great. If anyone’s fitted new halos, lemme know.

I would go for it...mankind may or may not benefit...do it and report back...

I wouldn't bother. I had this type in my E46, it's a lot of work and only lasts a two or three years before they start to fail and then you've got to dismantle the headlights to get to them again. They were pretty bright though and looked good enough but if you were to go for this type kit, the 'Cotton' type LED kits look even better, gives out a uniform circle of light and the individual LED SMD chips can't be seen. As I said though from my experience in the E46 I wouldn't bother with them again though. As others have said you can install the LED H8 bulbs, a lot less hassle but be aware that the outer rings does not light up as bright as the inner that's why I have settled for some Osram Intense Blue lamps although not really that blue or white!

From a reply in a post this is my experience with the Fizzmo LED on eBay

https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=110423&start=45

It's ok, and it looks great on a cloudy day - however on a sunny day it really doesn't look good as the outside ring is barely visible.

I found this video on YouTube where somebody replaced the H8's with Philips h8 LED

I will buy this next month (October) so happy to post then with the results.

Those Phillips H8 looks good very similar to LEDS from what you can see in that video, may have to swap my Osrams for the Phillips, the Osrams are a little yellower although still not too bad.

Oops just realised the Philips are LED not halogens like the Osrams I have! They do look good and the outer ring seems to light up just as well as the inner unlike many other LED bulbs and they also seem brighter.

Thanks guys. Like I’d said, I’ve already got the LED bulbs and was interested in whether replacing the halos was worth it because I don’t think the LED bulbs really make that big of a difference.

It’s a shame they don’t last long. Especially as LEDs are supposed to have a long life. But I appreciate your insight. Sounds like it’s probably more hassle than it’s worth.
