Replacing indicator bulb holder

So i've been to my local indy today because of a "light out" warning i've had come up and he seems to think (after doing a diagnostic check) it will either be a problem with the indicator bulb holder or the light control module.

What's the best way to access the bulb holder in order to replace it if needs be?

They work but the diagnostic machine was showing a fault at the front o/s indicator and it was causing it to flash too fast.

Any idea if i would need to remove the headlight/front bumper to check and replace the indicator bulb holder or wiring?

They can be got at from the access hatch, but they are a complete bugger to get to.

You can see one from the pic - on the left, with a red ring around it. It's a bayonet bulb holder - you need to turn gently to the left to remove it, then the bulb is attached at the end. There are two of them and this one is easiest!

Tbh if I was doing it, I'd take the bumper off. May save time in the long run.

Tapatalking...

Brilliant. Thanks mate. I've had the bumper off in the past and it wasn't too bad.

I had a problem with mine a few years ago about MoT time so I got the local garage to do it. Needed soldering, apparently, 'gotta charge an hour's labour' etc £70 :/ So when I went again I had a look at accessing it and decided that the tricky bit would be getting the bits back in. So I thought I'd book it into my local dealer, bite the bullet, but they'll have the parts.

Fixed it by cleaning it, £33. :)

So, might be worth checking.

Thanks for that. Gonna take the headlight out on the weekend hopefully and have a look and test the connections. Hopefully it will be something simple.

If that doesn't solve it, it's going back to the indy and i'll mention what you said.

Check if their broke and if they are the side indicators just twist out, turning left then unplug the lead and then again turn left to release the bulb holder at the back to expose the light bulb, i have two clear spares you can have if your near Essex!?

Just the bulbs? Or the side repeater covers?
