Afternoon folks,

Planning on replacing all discs n pads this weekend on the z4, got a great deal on the parts from mTec, drilled and grooved discs with black finish.

Anything i should be wary of or any tips that could possibly make a better job? input appreciated

coppa slip the pad backs and edges (small amounts)

make sure that you put the right disc on the right side of the car.

don't rely on the rear self adjusters to do the job. adjust the shoes yourself for the handbrake. don't adjust the handbrake cable to compensate for shoe adjustment.

dont forget the pad warning sensors.

There's a video for the fronts on my signature, It was a 1st trial for some software so it's not the last word in production quality but will show you whats involved and has tool sizes and torque settings in the text. To get the best, feedback suggests you watch it without the commentary first then again with. Good luck it's satisfying when you've DIY

Doing my pads at the moment got the caliper off and found thepiston rubber seal gone they are not held at my dealer but should be there tomorrow, hope its not too bad a job to replace them.

Hi. I've fitted the mtech black discs and they are lovely. Only downside to watch is when you first use them it takes a while to rub the black off the face. I made the mistake of leaving my foot on the brake pedal at the traffic lights on my first outing and the pads stuck to the disc I assume to the sticky black paint. A big clunk and they released. Just worth bearing in mind. Oh and the smell.

Are you saying that the surface of the disc was painted with black paint?

That ain't right!

Yes whole disc is entirely painted, well, coated perhaps, not painted and it does take a few runs to get rid of it, but once it's gone it remains in the holes and grooves...looks cool :D

Appreciate all the advice and tips, all taken on board and did th first one this afternoon  painted the calliper black too just as a smarten up thing. Discs look well cool eh Lee?? I know the coating will come off the face but it stays on the hub etc as a protection I guess. Will post a few pics when Ive finished :D
