Replacing diff oil without drain plug

Hi guys,

Got a 2007 3.0si coupe. Looks like I don’t have a diff drain plug. There’s a big 14 mm Allen plug at the back of the diff, just above where the fins are, but I can’t see any other plug. I assume that’s the filler plug.

So, how am I supposed to replace the oil? I read that I should suck it out with some sort of vacuum device, but what about filling? Do I just want to fill it until it comes out the hole? Even though it’s not at the bottom, the hole seems quite low down, and I’m worried it’s not supposed to be used for filling and I end up with too little oil in the diff.

yup mine didnt have one either, some garages will take back off then refill it.

But i just syphoned it off, then to filled it up used a oil pump, just fill untill it over flows

you can buy pumps on ebay, can be used to pump out then pump back in

yours will be same as below but no drain

Yeah, I have the big one at the back which is higher up, but not the smaller one under the drive shaft in the side which is used to drain the oil in the vid.

Actually, already got a crappy little pump that I used for the gear box (which did have drain and fill plugs, btw), which I was planning to use for this. I’ll give it a go tomorrow.
