Replacing 35i coils - advice needed

Hi All,

So 35 owners my car has reached 34k miles and I want to replace all the coils as I am getting a few problems which may be related with no codes showing.
Coils are made by many manufacturers but I know from past experience that all are not equal in performance and/or reliability.
So, if anyone knows can you recommend a brand??

I bought Bosch coils and spark plugs when I replaced mine
Coils were £20 each and the plugs £8.00 each from Auto Doc, that was 13 months ago so don’t know how Brexit has effected prices

I think all the premium brands are ok for a mildly tune 35 like yours is in?

I’ve just got Hella for my 35is, but I’ve used NGK and Bosch..all worked perfectly..

My car got to 50k miles before the first coil let go..

I believe Delphi were an OE supplier for the N54…

Are you doing the plugs at the same time?

Yep I will be doing the plugs as well, full set of index 12 injectors as well when I get time.

I think Bosch as well, yeah they have gone up 20% thanks to the brexit fekwittery, now at just over £24...

Just fitting my set of index 12s at the same time too..

Previous owner had replaced one of the index 9 with an index 12 ..apparently verboten…on any one bank.

So a fresh set of index 12s going in now

You should have bought a few dozen…AFAIK…apart from re-manufactured versions and a special US warranty version they have been at these prices for the last 5 years or so?

It was an issue I knew I would encounter with a N54 powered E89.

The BBs seem to have many pages dedicated to the price of index 12 stretching back many years..

Well I've no idea where else my Indy orders parts from It's just what he told me back then. Like you say I should have bought them back then but I didn't lol

There was a genuine BMW part available at that price until Jan this year but that has ended. It was a special part number intended for warranty work hence the discount.
