Replacement Xenon bulb??

My Z4 front left headlight was flickering a lot when i first switched my car on now the bulb wont come on at all and the little bulb warning light has come up on my dash.

Where can i get a new bulb? and are they hard to fit?

Its a 2003 3.0 xenon.

Looks easy enough to fit but the price ouch...! :(
 
Make sure it's the bulb as most failures are in fact the ballast that is fitted to the underside of the headlight. Easiest test is to swap the bulbs left to right first and eliminate that. Bulbs are designed to outlast the car.

Obviously take extreme care and don't touch anything with the lights on!!!
 
I dont know if it could be related but when indicating left (the side the headlight has gone) the indicators sometimes flash really fast like the relay is going or something?...i do hope its not the control unit??? any ideas?
 
like cj has said, check the bulbs first to elliminate the issue. i had the same issue this year, turned out to the be the ballest. found a new part on ebay for 1/3 of teh price and fitted it myself. took about hour and half to take bumper off, headlight out and back together, found that the headlight had a pint of water in the bottom of it that caused the ballest to die on me :(

I had this. There are two bulbs in the front indicator iirc and one had gone. Well, I thought so, but it turned out to be a dodgy connection which I had re-soldered.

Are xenon bulbs then covered by BMW New Car/Insured Warranty if they fail? Did anyone make any claim before?
