Replacement Sat Nav Screen for 2003 E85 3.0i

Reading various threads going back a few years - to looks like the stepper motor is on its way out on my Z's flip up navigation display. Stereo works fine regardless.
I can't find a supplier anywhere. I've got a search on eBay underway - never know - one may turn up?
I've also got my brother-in-law looking as he works in the service dept' at a BMW dealers - just hope Im sitting down when he tells me a price, thats if he can get one...
Any advice would be appreciated - Ive tried disconecting the battery - no luck...
Ideally I need a dark grey unit.. Thx Jan

Think some have cleaned up the stepper motor with some success. Other than hat you will have to replace the screen.

If it is grey, they are cheaper. If it is black, the are more desired.

Expect between £70 - £100 from eBay.

Thx - I'll let you know about the cost from BMW - and thanks the advice on costs and "cleaning" - let's see which option offers it's self first - just as well I don't need the sat/nav & thankfully it drives really well, do no real distractions. Jan

BMW is in the region of £1500 from memory, unless you are lucky like srhutch and myself and got a brand new one from BMW Germany for just over £100.

Nothing back form BMW on a cost for the replacement screen / motor / housing - need to chase next week.
But I have located a second hand unit complete with 6 months guarantee from QUARRY BMW SPARES @ £243.00 delivered
Might have to buy asap whilst I can still get one? Need to check the colour...

There may be a market for your old housing too :-) if someone else fancies tackling this mod:

Quick update... we had some excellent weather over the weekend, and as such I decided to take out the Z and enjoy some enthusiastic driving for an hour or so! This must have increased in voltage being held by some components or something similar as the result was the flip screen has started to work!!!

I think having left the Z on the drive over winter with just the occasional outing has left the electrics wanting - at one point I did have to recharge the battery - so Ive ordered a "Opti-Mate 4 Battery charger and conditioner" @ £40.00 which I'm hoping will resolve the issue?
