Replacement runflats

Hi All

The rear tyres on my 13reg E89 35is are wearing low. They are Potenza 255/30 R19 91Y. Not quite at the limit yet, so I am starting to research. I am guessing they are the tyres fitted from new - I have owned the car for 6 months. It's done 18k in total.

The front tyres have lots more tread left. They are Potenza 255/35 R19 88Y.

I'd like to replace with runflats. I don't have a budget as such, but I;d be interested to hear pros and cons of the Potenzas versus others. I find the ride very firm, which is not a criticism, and I find a loose grip more than I would ideally like.
Also if I decide to swap the rear tyres for another make, what is the impact on the front types which I can keep until worn?

I am a tyre newbie. On pervious cars e.g. mondeo, I just took what the service guy recommended.

Apologies is this has been answered before, but I can only really see posts about people wanting to move from runflats.

Have a look at www.blackcircles.com put your Reg in and tick the relevant boxes i.e RF and it will give you all the options
 
£229.99 fully fitted.. I am due some too, mine have only done 12K but its mostly around town etc. I had a quote from my local dealer (Stratstone, Chesterfield) when I had my damaged o/s front replaced the other week that was in the same ball park as above. give or take a few quid, so I probably will take it to them as I know they will look after my alloys

I was more looking for people's experiences of various types, the pros and cons, and the issues with mixing makes between axles etc.
 
I will fit Michelin pilot super sports on my 35is when my rft's are scrubbed,can't wait ! Run flats are the only downside to owning my car. There not as bad as the old Bridgestone rft's fitted to my old e86 but there not great :( I will change them all when the rears are scrubbed.
 
I have the Continental sport contact 2 bmw approved runflats all round,great improvement for jumping and tramlining.
£605 total fitted for 17" staggered fitment on LA turbines.

I would do the same if it didn't invalidate the warrantee.

I replaced mine to non run flats on my 1 series when it was under warranty and it didn't cause any issues on claims etc, i doubt most stealers would even notice tbh :)
 
I'll keep the rft's with some beef left on them :D my mates the warranty manager. I tried to spec the car with non rft's without success :( already spoke with the dealer about my intention & they agree the Michelin pps will improve the car.

my experience while not on the e89 maybe of some help...

I switched from the original Bridgestone tyres to the Michelin PS2 ZP run flats and never looked back - much more compliant and alot less skittish. Tramlining simply disappeared... Noticed the difference driving down the dropped kerb from the tyre garage. Can't recommend them high enough.
They weren't cheap but then they lasted twice as long...

Thanks. Really useful feedback. Did you notice a change in grip? I've found my traction control kicks in a lot over winter when its wet or temp is below about 7degC.

I think I felt they gripped better than the Bridgestones, but it was a wee while ago (not had a zed for 3 years and ran the Michelins for about 4 years)...
