Many thanks for huge volume of info.Hey guys,
These sensors are operating with 4 milliamperes! There is no reason to double each wire.
This is complete nonsense coming from someone who has no idea what he is talking about. The lead tech at my local BMW said its a £10k+ job to replace the roof loom.
2 left (white & brown), 2x2 right (yellow & brown, green & brown). Can you advise on wire colours please, I'm collecting everything I need before unlocking the roof.
Hope you already read @LordLolzeye's "harness replacing" thread before starting to dismantle the rear roof shell:I am about to rewire my E89 roof weak points.
I’m just sharing what I was told. No need to get snippy. I didn’t say that **I** made that up.This is complete nonsense coming from someone who has no idea what he is talking about.
There are a total of 6 sensor cables in the rear roof shell that must be replaced in a timely manner.

These wires break due to their limited quality for use where they are bent over 180° every time the roof is opened or closed.
On each side of the roof there are 3 arches over 180° where the wires in 2 arches are overloaded.

Have you ever heard of a workshop that only replaces a single brake pad if the brake sensor fails? Hopefully not.
But when it comes to roof repairs, every repair shop will make this attempt to get your money for the same problem multiple times.
Btw, a complete loom replacement takes about 6 hours plus ~ 1.000€ for parts. That's way apart of 10k regardless of currency.
