Replacement Radio Buttons

It doesn’t seem as though you can buy the buttons individually, but does anybody know if you can replace the numbered buttons on the radio (with a bit of dismantling of the unit)?
I found today that the air freshener I had dangling over it must have excreted something sticky on to the buttons, and as I attempted to remove it, it has taken the coating with it. :headbang:
So annoyed with myself!

Now that’s a bummer! Not as far as I know, but I can think of two options:

Have them resprayed by an interior specialist
Buy a used radio (can be broken) and switch over the buttons. Will take some dismantling, but anything built can be eh- unbuilt

Good luck!

Thanks, Barty.
I’m thinking option 2. There’s a couple of relatively cheap ones on eBay so will snag one of those and try swapping the buttons out. 🤞🏼

If you find one of the same type, you can swap like for like rather than having to take out the buttons. May be the easiest option, finding one could be more challenging

I just picked this up for £35 hoping that I can just swap the buttons. 🤞🏻🤞🏻

I've just been losing myself in your Alpine Trip thread... your car looks absolutely stunning, Barty. Love it!!
I'm hoping to take mine down to Nice in June next year for Letape du Tour de France (so bike on top!) if I can convince my wife we don't need to go in the Q7.

[ref]Simiewimie[/ref], thank you! Bike on the coupe is very doable and will definitely get a lot of double-takes along the way

Not needing the Q7 depends mostly on the shoe-requirements of the trip I guess, so plan wisely

Think you can use the newer style knobs too

Correct, the X3 knobs are a nice little upgrade. Note that [ref]Simiewimie[/ref] is referring to the 1-2 3-4 5-6 etc buttons

Much easier and no more costly just to swap out the whole radio, surely?

I'm not 100% sure that the unit I have purchased is a direct replacement, but as long as the buttons are the same, then £35 is a very cheap fix for a unit that is otherwise faultless and spotless. A lot of the other units I have seen that could be direct replacements are over £100 and look in varying states of use.

If it comes apart as easy as this similar unit, then it shouldn't be too bad. 🤞🏻

I'll update once I've got it.
