Replacement key: Bentley or BMW style reviews wanted

Morning all,

I've wanted to get a spare key for some time, having seen a few posts for the Bentley key, I was tempted by that but never ended up progressing with DLV. Perhaps that was for the best.

So the two new types I've seen are the Bentley type and the new BMW type, so just after reviews from people who've had theirs a while (these have been selling for quite a few years now). So after how they're holding up: functionality, practicality, durability for wear and tear, etc, etc.

One thing I recall is some of the button "symbols" didn't line up with that of the old diamond style key? Is this the case? i.e. I want a unlock button to unlock the car... not some other function!

I've got one of the diamond keys and it's identical to the OEM.

Just bear in mind that the immobilizer needs programming by removing it from the car and flashing the firmware.

I must nip down and pick up the Bentley style key and sort out the programming...
 
I got a Bentley-style one from DLV 3 years ago and it's been fine. It doesn't have a rechargeable battery though, so I've had to replace that once and the BMW logo is wearing. It has 3 buttons the same as the OEM key, but they are in a different order! Still for £80 cut and coded I'm more than happy with it.

Previous owner swapped one of my keys for the first one in OP's post.

Seems fine though I have no idea about the coding aspects of it. Everything works though it does seem slower than my OEM Diamond key - IE: if I press the OEM key quickly to unlock, it will more consistently unlock driver + passenger. The aftermarket key seems to be slightly slower and I'm finding I need to pause for a split second before pressing again.

It's also heavier than OEM if that matters to you though less jabby since its a foldy.

Okay thanks for the feedback, I guess maybe I’ll go see them in person and then choose! I’m more tempted by the BMW one rather than Bentley. Looks more factory in my opinion. But guess if I’ve actuallt got both in front of me, I can compare and choose! :)
 
I use one of these flip keys... works great and the infrared throw is further than the OEM diamond key. :thumbsup:

I like the look of that one - as you say it looks more OEM. :thumbsup:

But when dlv did mine he only had the Bentley style blanks - which are heavier than I'd like really. Still, at least I've got more than 1 key!
 
I like the new bmw style too. Is there many places that can do the swap? I’m guessing the very bottom button won’t do anything on our zeds?
 
Do you have a link and what have you gotta do to get this working?
