Replaced Conv. Top Motor - Doesn't work

I replaced my convertible top motor today. I ordered JUST the motor (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...5-cd78f07a84d8). Installed it and did trunk conversion. The top will unlatch, and I hear/see the motor making sounds and shaking as if it's working - but the top doesn't come down.

Any ideas guys?

Is the oil reservoir full of oil and have you run it few (5-10ish) times to bleed the air out? Hydraulic lines all going to the correct ports on the pump?

As James says people have had trouble identifying the ports on exchange units so its worth checking,

Might also be worth making sure the bypass isn’t stuck. If you pulled the red tab on Bowden cable when the motor wasn’t working (to open and close the roof manually) it might have got stuck in. Mine did this, took a bit of messing with the little bypass pin to get it working smoothly again.

Is the wiring to the motor the correct way
I made this mistake whilst moving mine.
If i remember rightly after a lot of head scratching a phone call to Tug( forum member)and he pointed me in exactly the right direction.

Hi all, thanks for your replies!

As the motor is in the trunk now it's easy to troubleshoot.

Couple things:
1. The motor wiring isnt the issue (i tried it both ways and no effect).
2. I can see a fluid line 1/2 way up the white reservoir - does this mean its ok?
3. Despite the red hoop being back in place now the top is still movable manually - did it not reset?

It’s either not seated correctly or your lines have no fluid in them & hence no pressure/resistance when you manually move the roof.

Sticking valve by the sound of it, tap the valve with a small panel in hammer and lubricate it with wd40 to emsure it frees up it should be raised so when the cable release is pulled the metal plate slides over it and depresses ityorelease the pressure. If its stuckit willnotallow pressure to build up

It was the bypass valve stuck in!

Thanks to every single one of you for your valuable input and friendly advice. Cheers!
