Replace handbrake

Hi
Since I bought my car the ratchet on my hand brake has been missing a few teeth right where you want it to lock!

I've bought a new handbrake mechanism but after taking the interior of the car apart I couldn't see an easy way to change it.

Does anyone know how it can be changed? I've googled a lot and searched on here and I can't find a solution.
