Hi guys,

Took the car in following front brake problem. Diagnosis is front caliper failed/jammed pad to disc and excessive heat has damaged pad and disc. From memory needed doing anyway soon so not lost much but to replace pads, disks and caliper total quote is £490 all in. Local Indy. I havent specified any brands, just standard components.

Does this sound reasonable?

Cheers

Well I know you can get disks and pads for all four corners from mtech for about £210. I had a seizing front caliper and bought a brand new one from eBay for £68. Total £278.

That quote should cover disks and pads on the front axle as you wouldn't only replace one side.depending on labor costs might be about right if not a little pricey.

To be honest it's a pretty simple job if you're handy with a spanner. Plenty of guides out there on YouTube.

Also if it got really really hot you might want to replace the brake fluid. That's my personal preference anyway.

Are they quoting you for one caliper?
I'd be changing both calipers.

Eurocarparts promotional offer. 20% off
Two pagid front discs, and brembo discs and pads which are oem approx £200 all in. Plus labour.

Thank you for the responses. I will make a point tomorrow about the two calipers and guesstimated labour costs total. I trust them mostly, they have looked after the car for many years but can never be too sure when require repair work. I wish I had time to ring round to get comparisons!

Thank you guys
