renewed warranty

Just if anyone's interested, just renewed my mechanical breakdown warranty.
I went with a company called Auto Protect, i have already been with them for the past six months, and they have paid out twice already no quibbles.
I got the premier plus cover, which is any electrical or mechanical breakdown up to the value of the car, no excess and unlimited claims.
This cost £290, payable interest free over the term.
I also asked about the roof motor if it should fail, and was told this is also covered.
I thought this was good value, so thought i would share.

What year is your car?

The car is a 2004 3.0 with 50k
They paid out for a faulty headlight washer and a new pdc sensor.
Not the biggest things I know, but it includes labour as well.
So both jobs were over £200 each.

I've got to admit, I was pleasantly surprised.
I took out their top cover, I could have got the next one down, that was only £250 but claims were only up to £1000 with a list of parts covered.
I got the renewal with a week to go on my old policy, that is why I put in the claim for the pdc senor, to see if they paid out, if they didn't I wasn't going to bother.
So said they are called "auto protect" 0800 6121300.

Do they have a web site?

£290 for a year ? Feck, wish I had known about this a few months ago - would have been seriously tempted, and of course it would have paid for itself now just in the cost of the roof motor I bought this week

Good job though - I will consider this I think

Is the warranty transferable if you sell the car ?

Its not the easiest site to navigate.

Agree. It doesn't tell you much about their products. Can you choose your preferred BMW dealers for the warranty works?

Yes its transferable, £25 to change owners, that's another reason I got it, makes the car easier to sell privately.
You can use any VAT registered garage, although there is a cap on labour costs, off the top of my head I think they pay out £60 per hour, but you can add the rest and take it where ever you want, my Indy has done all the dealing, I haven't actually ever had to speak to them direct.
