Remus backbox - straight fit?

So Ive read on here the Supersprint back box is not a direct replacement, Id need their middle section as well to attach it to which is stupid money.

Can anybody tell me if the Remus back box is a straight fit part ? It seems to have good reviews :driving:

I believe it is, as is the Eisenmann designed for it. They probably won't provide any additional performance however, unlike the Supersprint, but then that's because it's a full system that can be designed from headers to tailpipe.

What I don't know is whether the stock exhaust has flanges that mate up to the new backboxes (Remus/Eisenmann etc) for a quick fit or whether some welding is necessary.

Yeah Im trying to find out if the stock exhaust needs to be cut and any back box welded on. I don't really like that idea, but Im dying for a better sound! I don't expect any performance gains out of a non turbo engine , even with a full system you might get 1bhp at the top end which youd never notice, trying to get more power from non turbos is a waste of time IMO.

Remus boxes have a welded solid flange IIRC...

Be aware though that its usually the flange on the midsection that commonly cracks on the OEM exhaust.

So inspect it all before you remove anything or you could end up in trouble..

Thanks, I'll check that out. Id have preferred a Milltek due to great reviews but they are discontinued, Eisenmaan are crazy money and Supersprint doesn't have a flange.

I looked into this and the options are:

1) Buy backboxes with a flange fitting (limited choice and the flange can corrode on the stock mid-section)
2) Buy slip on back boxes and you can buy flanges (as its a common problem) to have welded up to Slip on back boxes. When I looked into this the cost was about £150 all in depending on the labour cost.
3) Buy the mid section (X-Pipe) for about £250 (think that's what I paid from Hayward and Scott) and it all slips on. I don't know whether different mid sections/back boxes are compatible, etc.

I went for option three as i got the back boxes on here secondhand and found out the cost of the X-Pipe, etc beforehand from memory I got it all done for £500/£550 all in including fitting :)

eisenmann aren't that much more. CA offered me 25% off when I enquired.

Remus wouldn't offer any discount.

Interesting , do you know any dealers for Hayward and scott in the Uk? Im trying to find one on google just now to see prices. This is the most confusing car Ive ever bought a sports exhaust for !!!

Just realised your car is a non-M although H&S may make one for your car.

As far as I am aware they deal direct through themselves as they were manufacturing them when I was there.

Another option would be to modify the stock exhaust by gutting the internals :)

Hi mate. There is a Hayward and Scott in Basildon, Essex if that's any use to you? I know of a few people who have had exhausts done there and they're excellent apparently.
