I got a new OEM stubby aerial and for the life of me i cannot get the old whippy off, i am scared of snapping something of bending something. Ive read old posts but nothing solid of how to get this to work. Can anyone help?

Tom

I'd take that as a sign from God...
The Stubby brigade should be along shortly to solve your dilemma
Good luck.

WD40 on there? Try work some into the thread by spraying on the crease and by rocking the whippy slightly back and forth at the base. Don't think I've heard of them breaking... give it a go. Get the whippy off  :poke: :fuelfire:

1. Get the car lifted on a cradle hoist (similar to the ones used to lift F1 cars from the gravel)
2. grasp the Whippy tightly
3. get someone to spin the car clockwise.

Mine was glued on my previous zed, i put a cloth around the whippy and used some claw grips to get it unstuck (light pressure increasing until it budges). I have heard of people shearing the bolt, in which case you'd need to source the base from BMW but its not a tricky job to replace if it happens, just more cost.

Mine had a stubby on when i got it, luckily the owner had kept the oem one too.
No one likes a stubby ask your Mrs ...

Well i tried and tried and this happened, anyone know the parts needed :(

Ahh bit far then. I might have been able to pick one up.
Not sure what you need exactly, but if you get something like this then you should have everything you need.

Any guide as to how i can access from the inside, i can get my hand behind the inner lining but no idea how to undo it.

No idea either I'm afraid. I'll take a look this weekend if that's any use to you... unless someone else chimes in that's done it before.

Not done it on the Coupe which has a load more plastic covering everything in the boot.
Once you get behind the plastic it's just one torx screw holding the Base to the car
You'll need to buy a new antenna Base now though
