Removing vents - HELP

Im trying to remove my vents to do the aux input install but i cant see any metal clips.

There is 2 square holes in the top of the vents where the clips should be but i cant see a clip in either one of them!

When i try and move it, it feels more like it is secured at the bottom rather than the top.

Any ideas how i can remove the vents without damaging or if i can get to the back of the head unit without removing vents?

My car is a 2003 e85 if this makes any difference

You need a thin screwdriver or ideally a hooked end one. You can't really see the clips. This video may help

I had to do this recently and a credit card along the top edge just helped to ease it out once the clip was pushed down.

I also found two plastic lugs at the bottom of the vent one at each side that have to be prized up as well as the top clips to remove the vent

Done it couple of times and you always seem to do one then struggle with the other one. I pull the side that's come undone or wedge it slightly out then do the other side

I must have spent well over an hour so far trying to do this and all ive achieved is high blood pressure and a scratched vent. I dont suppose anyone in chesterfield has done it before?

I used 2 stereo removal keys. Bent the very ends to get them in the rights places. Boom! Vents out in under 30 secs on my first go.

This may help, whatever you do, don't force it, when all 4 clips are loose it just slides out, took me ages to get it just right, some people can do it in seconds.

Thank you for everyone advice. Ive finally got it out using some welding wire bent into a shape and moving a couple of the slats on the vent out of the way.

Last questiom, do i need to disconnect the battery before i do the aux cable?
