Removing seats to clean ?

I wanted to clean under the seats below the rails and wanted to check if it is just a matter of the undoing the 4 bolts and disconnecting the electrical plug, taking the seats out, cleaning and then reverse ?

I just want to get below the rails which is near impossible to do with the vacuum but I don't want to cause any errors to flag up.

If you disconnect the plugs you’ll cause airbag warnings, the battery needs to be disconnected some time before any disconnections.

What Rob said, first you disconnect the battery and leave it for around 30 minutes, then disconnect the seats and remove them. When you return them to the car, after connecting them, connect the battery.

I would also suggest, if you are able to complete the job in a day and the weather looks fair, lower the roof first before you disconnect the battery. So much easier to lift the seats out without scratching anything.

OK, apologies for not reading this properly! I thought I was in the E85 section.
I believe it is still possible to access the battery though with the roof down in an E89.

I've taken seats out of an E89, retract the roof and the disconnect the negative terminal in the boot and leave the car alone for 30 mins to power down (like mentioned above you don't want airbag problems). Put something like a bit of wood in the boot so that you cant accidentally shut the boot (like I did!). You are also meant to replace the bolts with new ones that hold the seats in place. If its only to hoover underneath get some one to hold the seat to one side, that will save you the hassle of disconnecting the seatbelt and prizing away the trim that covers it, theres also an electrical connector underneath the seat. I followed the workshop instructions, I'll see if I can find them, it has the torque settings for the bolts etc.
