Removing Sat Nav Screen

Has anyone removed their sat nav screen from the dash and was it easy to do? If so any hints?

I have a noise which is coming from behind the screen. Only happens when the car is moving, even crawling forwards I can hear it. The only thing I can compare it to is a broken speedo cable I had in an old car years ago. Its metal on metal or metal on glass or plastic and a kind of scratchy noise that gets worse the longer the car is driven. Its driving me insane!

I shouldnt think there are any moving parts behind the screen linked to the wheels but if I could get the screen out of the dash, along with the air vents and head unit it would make tracking down the noise a lot easier.

If anyone knows the best way to remove the screen please let me know - I dont want to get ham fisted and end up breaking it!

Thanks

- Remove plastic clip from close to the windscreen (just clipped in) at the back of the screen.
- There are 3 screws underneath that, remove those
- Remove Centre airvent
- Remove two screws from the bracket that holds the screen.
- Disconnect cable (about 40 cm long, quite tight as it is clipped in).
- Lift screen up and away.

Might be worth checking the bracing under the bonnet, wouldn't be the first time these have been found to be loose at the bulkhead.

after that what PVR said :)
