Removing sat nav screen

Hi all

Rain means I need indoor jobs today. My sat nav screen is temperamental on the 05 car: so I decided to pop it out for a look

I followed the threads on here and have got the device away from the dash, but can’t unplug it?

The armoured cable heads into the dash where I can’t reach and the other end is buried in the actual unit

Any tips?

I need to sort mine. It doesn't open fully and it's always dim.
When you say 'temperamental', how does that manifest itself with yours?

One day it will open

The next it’s needs a push

Then nothing

The buttons work on though

The issue with ease is the stepper motor I believe. I did look for one many years ago as I have a spare screen with issues, but as mine has always been ok (touch wood) never progressed further.

Do us a favour and take a photo of the rear panel of that head unit fella.
I have the same and am wondering if there's scope to plumb in an aux cable.
If nothing additional by way of a socket, are there any spare pinouts on your terminal block?

Well

Someone has been here before judging by the snapped clips, broken plastic and AMAZON GIFT CARD substituting for the rigidity of the case

Yep

I think it’s beyond repair

I’ve done aux in Chris will show you a photo of which plug I spliced it into

Top, thanks.
Although I already have the factory ipod adpater installed. Wondering if that has taken up the scope already as it operates under the CD Changer function on the head unit interface.

Don’t suppose you’d part with the casing from your screen?

After much swearing I’ve reassembled the main unit

The issue lies with that someone has been in there before me and has snapped all sorts of clips etc

The Amazon gift card was acting as a flat surface where a part of the casing previously sat

I reinstated the ‘prime’ (geddit) support and resealed the casing- now letting it dry overnight

Whilst i did that I greased and checked the stepper gears and motors

So, I’ll report back how it goes together

If it works it will be a miracle

Here you go bud

You can see the thick black aux cable going into the acc plug (plug c if I recall)

There were 3 wires red yellow and black which I just replicated the position from the supplied plug

This car has sat nav and a multichanger

Helps?

Nice one thanks. So you replaced the multi-changer wires for the aux-in wires or are they both spliced in? i.e. you have the aux-in and cd changer on the same 'CDC' function?

No it’s added in

When you pop the c connector out the existing wires stay in their places, you route the 3 new red/yellow/black into empty guides

So headunit says

Aux
CDC
Cd
Radio
