removing knee pads?

I am considering getting some Dream Red knee pads from LeatherZ as I think it would add a nice accent to the inner footwell area. I'd searched around hoping to find a "how to" on removing the pads, but to no avail.

Has anyone done this? Does it involve removal of the infamous center counsel? I could likely just write to he folks at LeatherZ, too... I'd hope the pads would come with detailed instructions.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

they just pull off, but take a lot of force.

Really? Doh! :o

So before I go give my pads a hard yank, just how are they held on? Is it double sided adheisive or are they just held by tenacious fasteners?

Thanks, by the way.

I used to work for Nixdorf Computer some years back. Their head office was in Houndslow. The instructions by the British Management was (unofficially): "Don't talk about the war." Me being a Yank went for the jugular and as soon as the conversation went non-business I brought up the war. Questions like: "Do you have relatives that were Nazi's during the war?", were always considered in bad taste. I didn't give 2 shites if they were or not.

When you know you've been a dumb a... and you end up hitting your head against the wall for it, sticking the knee pad right there helps!

Those are very hard to pull. I did it from the inside. I took the ashtray unit out and pushed on it with the long screwdriver. Worked well.

German engineering holds them on.

Yes, slightly over the top german engineering IMO, half the amount would have been enough

1/10th the holding force would be sufficient.

You'd think that the entire structure of the car was being held together by those fasteners. Obviously the people who designed the assembly process never had to disassemble the car.
