Removing individual buttons on steering wheel

I am trying to remove the buttons from the steering wheel trim for a refurb but cannot get the big ones out (volume +/- and forward/back)
Can they even be taken out? The single buttons just slide out.

Need these out today so any help is much appreciated.

They don't come out Mr Dracula - when I did mine (and when I had a guy fix the mess I made) the big buttons were just masked up with a couple of small pieces tucked down the gap using a small craft knife. Carefully, obviously :D

Sorry for the small hijack, but how do the button holders and steering wheel spokes come off? Mine could do with a little tlc. Thanks.

Got them off without damage.
Same with the silver part of the paddles :D
They are made up of two parts, the rear part is holding it in. You need to pry it off with a plastic pry tool (start on the curved side)

Mine need done again - paint has gone shiny and scratched... However it should be a lot easier to re-do them as all the rubberised crap was taken off first time round.

You may find something if you search the forum as this was discussed recently, but IIRC the buttons are about £120.

Glad someone else is doing this because its something im planning on doing. Please keep the images and info coming

That looks REALLY AWESOME!! I really like the perforated leather, iv been looking to do the same as it'll tie-in with my gear nob.
