Removing gear knob?

This the ZHP knob that was available from LeatherZ.
Mine was loose to begin with and would come off in mid shift if I wasn't careful so I got to see the inside up close and personal. Turned out the leather boot had come up high enough to impede the knob from getting fully seated.
There is a plastic key up inside of the knob and a slot on top of the gear shift lever to keep the knob from turning around, so don't try to force it to unscrew or you will break it.

For the US, I got mine at mileoneparts.com. It was 48 shipped, and it arrived within a couple days of ordering. I'd recommend them, except their site absolutely sucks. I can't even find the URL of the item, and the search is atrocious. Probably would have better luck finding their phone number and calling them.

Basically, rather than sitting on top of the gearstick, the knob is drilled so that it sits much lower down and reduces the throw.
From the looks of the link, that is exactly what yours will do.

As for living at the 'Ring. If only! But this is only my 2nd outing in the Z. Went at Easter, but may go back one last time this year - in either September or October, but not 100% sure yet on which.
