Removing gear knob?

Any ideas how you remove the gearknob in a Z4? Is it just a threaded, screw-on type? Glued?

I don't believe they're threaded but...I like mine as it is. What are you wanting to replace it with, got any pics?

I've got that knob. It is my favorite upgrade so far. A huge improvement over the cheap plastic stock shift knob.

It doesn't light up.

I have the same & love it
I got mine from LeatherZ, but they're out of stock.
They're getting harder to locate now... you can try ebay

Are there any magic keywords to search for? "BMW gear knob" tends to bring up more results than you want, as does "weighted gear knob" ...

BMW replaced them with a taller knob (if you order one, it supercedes to the new one). I have a few left but am not sure what I am going to do with them.

I changed mine on the Z and it was the best mod for the cash by a mile, much improves the standard shift quality.

edit: Leatherz do indeed have a few left, $85 + shipping, so if you're UK based one of the other links above will be a better deal.

Andy at Leatherz says they're not made by BMW any more, so get 'em while they're left.
