Removing gear knob?

$86 or £46 - took 3 days to come with UPS global express. Don't have the part no I'm afraid. I don't believe you can get this in the UK, hence people using LeatherZ to order them from the US - IIRC the car it's from is a 330 ZHP.

And it makes a significant difference to the shift quality, pound for pound the best mod you can do.

sixspeed ouch! You never remembered the Z4um advice - put it in second gear and do it from the passenger seat :D

Timely tip :punch:

Guess we all have a reason to remember that one now.
Not timely enough though, by the looks of things :dizzy:

Ok - that is a job I still need to do to get my Storm gearknob on. What happens to the wire connection when you pull the original knob off?

Flymo, 3/4th August is good for me!

'Box - sorry, I must have missed this part of your post in amongst the comedy of your self-inflicted injury!

Are you free on Sunday the 5th?

And where were you thinking of meeting?

5th is good mate - maybe I'll start a new post for this and see if anyone else is interested. You'll have to remind me where you're based now though, but maybe somewhere in the middle, with a few good roads nearby, and a pub :D

** edited to add: just saw your location under your avatar.. doh! Will start a new thread and see if we can get a few others along...

Very nice knob Sp3ctre! When you replaced it, did you notice if the wires are made to connect the light function as in the M version just by "plug and play"

Thanks for the link. I think I will test my handy skills. Looks alot nicer with the short one. I can tell you have an M version. :D The wieres for the light was on the photos

Hi Guys,

After reading this thread and a few months of not sorting it i ordered a Storm Gear Knob Stainless Steel yesterday...........

It came today!!!!!! Nice bit of kit it cost £80 all in including £12 for engraving and £3 P&P.

Going to hopefully fit it later and not punch myself in the face!

Cheers

Ps I work in Engineering, and this is well made and would cost me more in material setting up and machining to do in house.

Hi,

Well after a very hectic few days i sorted the stainless gear knob, the old one came off pretty easy i didn't smack myself in the gob which was a bonus too.

What can i say, its a bit of real class ive spoken to the guy about the hand brake and he thinks it will be ready for the Z4 any time. Im going to ring him next week because work like that ok CNCed, should be complimented.

I even managed to use the "look at my nob" gag on everyone at work and also the wife last night in bed! I let her hold it a little too she said it was very heavy! :o

On that note it is heavy but when on feels great, im guessing the gear changes will feel smoother now too.

Anyway thanks to SixSpeed for the thread and this should really be made as a great upgrade and a sticky as the Stubby should. Will Post up some pics when i get a chance.

Cheers

PaulN

Ps really loving the Z4 just dont make me choose between it and the Boxster!
