Removing CDV from an ///M, does it make any difference?

Can someone explain to me what a CDV is Pls and where it is.Also, would it make any difference to my Zed?

Clutch Delay Valve

Designed to stop you dumping the clutch, in theory protecting the drivetrain... But really just making pulling away less smooth, turning first to second into a bitch, and a major cause of kangarooing...

Yes, it would. A massive difference. I'd do mine myself if I had any spannersense...

So it does the same as the Sport Button then. :o Folks, you simply need to learn to use your right and left feet in unison. :poke:

Keeping mine fitted. :D :driving:

Nothing like the sport button. What it does is restrict the release of the clutch, so no matter how fast you take your foot off the clutch the valve will restrict this and make it slower. Having removed mine now, as I did on my last Zed has made the clutch a lot more controllable.

Yep I kind a knew that already. But as I lift the clutch pedal pretty slowly in first gear any how I can't see it helping with much. Personally I find the balance between the Clutch the Diff, the Rear Tyres and my feet, to be about right. No Kangarooing, Donuts as required when your in the mood, just enough slip and grip for a swift take off if needed. These cars are mechanical, analog devices, they're all a bit different, have their little querks, a bit like us really, enjoy what you got. :driving:

You sound like Gannet. He used to say that then finally got his CDV removed and couldn't believe how much better it was.

The CDV is part of the Nanny State so best removed

I'll remove it when I get a Stubby. :poke:

I guess the CDV is there to protect something happening from some action, with it removed what do you need to not do to prevent said damage? Does removing it passively accelerate wear and tear on the clutch or drive train?

mine was removed ages ago when i added a braided clutch line, i can't remember me thinking... wow... this has made a massive difference but my memory could be failing.

I would say it wears the clutch less with it removed. There is only a risk to the drivetrain when you make severe mistakes, but as always, the design is to protect the drivetrain from warranty claims. Perhaps a USA thing to avoid being sued.

PVR is correct, the clutch will slip more with a CDV fitted.
