Removing blobs of sap off the paint work ?!

Hey guys

I've been trying to get some very awkward sap blobs off a 1 series paint work and it's becoming a pain In the rear !

I've tried AS tardis ( bug and tar),AS preptone ( extreme version ), fall out remover, clay bar, hot water, g101 and couple of tricks people have told me and nothing will budge it. If I use the g101 it starts to run the colour of the sap but then nothing.

Would machine polish rip it off the paint ? Or just destroy the pad?

It's literally all over the Bonet and boot

Sorry to hear that. I had it happen to me (in large quantities) a few years ago at the golf club, parked under all the trees in the first days of spring. When I came back the car was covered in what looked like Super Glue. After that I purchased a cheap car cover for this time of year.

I managed to remove it before it fully set and did this with quite liberal use of Clay. But had it set then I think it may have been much harder to remove.

This is one of the reasons I decided this time to have both new cars coated with Gtechniq Crystal Serum.

Definitely DO NOT take a polishing machine to it!! :o
A machine should only ever be used on fully cleaned, clayed and totally smooth paintwork. Any grains of dirt (or sap) will get ground into your paintwork as if the pad was made of sandpaper!

Only thing I can suggest is to try a damp towell or kitchen roll, stick it on and let it really soak and soften the sap. No idea if it will work, but my biker mate swears by it to get bugs off his visor.

you could try heating the sap up with a hair dryer to soften it up, a clay bar/mitt might shift it then.
regards

WD40 on a soft cloth works well, or alcohol based hand sanitiser gel but let them soak in. Neither will damage paint but will obviously remove your wax.

Ok great thanks for all the help !

Yes thinking about it the polisher would have been stupid! I'll give them ago when the bloody rain stops
