Well after spending yesterday morning doing my roof with the AG kit walked out to find a nice mess on the roof when i tried to remove it it left a nice stain. :headbang:

AGSoftTop014.jpg

Kept soaking it with a sponge trying to draw out the muck but still left a slight mark so i used the AG cleaner i had used earlier and still a slight mark then brushed a little better re applied some protector and thank goodness its gone.

Any body got any tips for next time this happens thought about leaving it till its bone dry may not leave a stain then.

Cheers Gaz

Nasty stuff on cars.

I'd go with your suggestion and let it dry solid next time then gently scrape the majority off. While doing it wet you probably pushed it deeper into the fabric and spread it around.

Had a similar episode ... just finished cleaning with BMW top cleaner and conditioner ... the next day had two bird craps on it. Here's my thoughts/recommendations:

Don't scrap or rub the crap with a sponge ... you'll only rub it deeper into the cloth

Don't let it dry (if you can avoid it) ... you'll only need to rehydrate it to get it out

Since my Zed was just cleaned a day earlier I didn't want to spray water or cleaner all over. So I grabbed a spray bottle and filled it with warm water. With a wet/dry shop vac spray the crap and let it soften ... before it runs suck it up with the shop vac (don't touch the vac to the top ... close by the standing water is enough to draw the crap-soup up). A few iterations with this should loosen all the crap and suck it away pretty clean. The last step was to use a little BMW (or whatever ragtop cleaner you have) on the spot and do the same vac method to get the last bits of crap out. Do a final rinse with the water again then blot the area with a towel or sponge.

This method worked great for me and kept the rest of the car clean. This also works great to clean your interior carpets or textile seat areas. Naturally you'll want to use an appropriate cleaner to spray on.

Best of luck.

Thanks for advice

A few people have mentioned using a hoover on Soft Tops a little wary of using one myself but have been told they work a treat at getting all the dust and crap off.

No pigeons here in northeastern New Jersey, USA ... but a crapload of pollen. I wash the Zed and hours later there's a fresh film of pollen all over it.

I used to like trees. Where's my ax?

Then there's the brake dust buildup ... but I'll save that for another post.

I'll take it you don't agree. Perhaps your a bird expert ... I dunno. Seems to me I NEVER see them around here ... except near parks with little old ladies feeding them breadcrumbs.

Is it me or is there LOADS of pigeon crap at the momment
I'll take pigeons anyday. Sure beats those damn Canadian geese that keep "unloading" all over my car. Talk about crap, sometimes it looks like my car was attacked by a squadron after a quick stop at Taco Hell. :x

Good stuff!

I know a guy who cut down a tree above his parking spot because a bird crapped on his Z4. I fully understand it.

lets do the math....

no more old ladies = no more pigeon feeding = no more pigeons = no more crap on nice cars

In conslusion: eliminating old ladies = avoiding bird crap
