Hey guys i'm seriously considering removing the auto dim completely and just buying some cheap ebay glass to replace it just wondering what i should do with the two terminals that would normally plug into the auto dim section of the mirror should i join them together or should i tape them up or heat shrink just don't want to blow any fuses has anyone done this before

you could try coding the car to switch the dimming off.

SPIEGEL_ELEKTROCHROM - Automatic electrochromatic dimming mirror
EC_MIRROR - Automatic electrochromatic dimming mirror
EC_SPIEGEL - Automatic electrochromatic dimming mirror

i will check the files to see if the z4 has any of these.

can someone check if the E85 / 86 has a CAS file in ncsexpert with SPIEGEL_ELEKTROCHROM in, to turn off mirroe dimming change it to nicht_activ

Can't find any reference to SPIEGEL_ELEKTROCHROM in any module for the E85/86. Would expect it to be in GM5 if it was.

Just bought the car week ago and all three mirrors are fu!@#$ so after a week of massive Google research I've found a used ebay interior one but can't find any used sides except the heated only ebay ones so I'm kinda stuck having to use them now as I can't see anything out of my left one. I'll keep looking for side ones bit there no way I'm paying $1000 bucks for new ones. sorry bout the rant lol
I'm in the progress of fitting the eBay ones think I'll just heat wrap them up just not sure they need to run in a closed loop circuit to operate the interior one still?
thanks heaps guys for trying

Can't you just unplug the electrical connector to the mirror so it doesn't auto dim?

Andrew.

good timing! lol just fitted the eBay ones up and I then realized that there is a plug so I disconnected it.

pic of shagged ones and ebay ones, I'll report back if they fall off lol they were simple to install just clipped over the circular plastic base that is left in there once you remove original ones.
