Removed rear springs slightly different..?

Hi all,

I've recently replaced all of my springs with the Eibach Pro Kit :D and I am Very happy with the result.

When replying to a "rear springs wanted" post over the weekend i noticed that the rears that I removed (shown in the pic) are slightly different from eachother.?

They seem to be the same size, same thickness, except for the ends which are thicker on the right hand spring. The car was not noticeably lower on one side so I'm guessing they're both M Sport just from different manufacturers/suppliers?

What do you guys think?

I'm hoping to sell these on as they're in great condition, but would obviously be better to have as much info as possible.

At a guess,I would say the z has had a spring replaced on one side at sometime.You can't really sell as a pair.
 
The spring on the right was replaced just before I bought the car, so yes this one is newer. It was replaced by a car dealer so i doubt it was bought from BMW, probably Euro car parts or somewhere similar.

Do all spring manufacturers put blue paint on M Sport springs?

The car wasn't noticeably sitting higher one side so it's very strange if its one standard spring and one M Sport?

Are standard springs physically the same size as M Sport?

No blue paint on the one on the right.
 
I had an interesting conversation with a BMW tech who said that the M sport springs used to have blue paint on them and the SE springs had green paint.

However, BMW since changed the codes, and the only way to tell now is by the part number.

I had some sport springs that had green paint on them. Very confusing

I've just seen this spring on eBay, Sachs spring, OE replacement with 2004 3.0 listed.

This looks the same as the right hand spring as the only markings on it is a printed number in green starting 78276 and its the same thickness all the way to the ends.

Strange thing is.. Also listed is every other Z4 Engine? I thought the 2004 3.0 had Msport but the smaller engines didn't?

Think i'll call Euro car parts in the morning... :thumbsup:
