Remove post count

I find it is a useful feature for a forum to have, and helps differentiate a reply from someone who has posted thousands on a subject from those who have just arrived. Ok, it gets skewed by the posts in the lounge and the light side, but in general I believe people find it useful.

I am considering removing the post count increase from the non-zed related categories, but that requires altering the core files of the forum, which I am loathed to do as it is one more thing to break at upgrade time.

From the research I have done the quick reply form we have is more to blame for the one line responses. Depending on how things settle down the decision to keep that may be reviewed.

+1

And everything is fine as it is, leave it :poke:

I think its a good thing, if i need help or advice...usually the guys with high counts are the ones that can give you the most detailed and accurate answers. this isnt always the case but its a good rule of thumb

Haha, a thread about one line replies bolstering post count, and it's nearly all one line replies thus far

But anyway, leave it imho. It's handy for lots of reasons. Just because a few people, a minority probably, abuse it for some silly reason to get it high, doesn't mean it should be banned/removed. That is real Labour politics at work. Ban everything just because a few minorities take things a tad too far (if you even care anyway)

I think most people know who the knowledgable members are, regarless of how many posts they have

ever notice that those who say can it are those with low post counts?????? hmmmmmmmmmm? :poke:

Then there are those of us that have high posts count due to that amount of time that we have been on here,,,,either answering questions, one-liners, or a combination of both. Seniority is going to be around one way or another, best to just let things remain as they are (less things to break on the software side). :D

See, it was even more than one line

A quick suggestion. Why have a post count on each member? Is this not just to fuel "one liner replies"?

Does it fill a purpose?

A question those with 30 post or less ask. :poke:

I think it should be left as it is. A couple of questions I have asked have been replied to by people with high post counts and it gives u a bit of confidence.

If you were doing major work and you ended up with a new zeder, such as me, answering technical questions it may end up that they just open their mouths and let the wind blow their tongue about, giving duff info and possibly causing more work for people.

And I don’t think the slight rise in posts because of the non z related forum etc would make that much difference in comparison.

Why create work? you are always going to get people who want a "post whore" status, but its the minority who do that, I like to see genuine post count, besides im counting down to my four star status, its the only thing that keeps me going :D
