Remote roof operation

Hi guys

I noticed that a few of you have had your key programmed so that you can lower your roof. Can anyone let me know anywhere that would be able to do this in the shropshire/ west midlands area?

Thanks all

I thought it was just a case of holding the open button on the key fob longer, I may be wrong, but thats all I do

i had to have mine programmed, which i had done at a BMW/Mini specialist based in East Yorkshire. I think the newer cars already have it programmed, mine is a late 2003 53 plate 3.0 if that helps.

Ring around the small garages till you find one with an Autologic machine. They should be able to do it for you then.

This is what i did and found 2 places in leicester, one in desford.

The later cars have this function factory set AFAIK. More difficult is finding someone who can programme the roof to close off the key. Only place i've heard of so far is near Hull.

Seem like nice guys.

Went to an autologic place to attempt "roof up" but they couldn't find it on the options list.

hi all,

just wondered is this something all z4s have the ability to do? iv got an 03 plate and i thought id read somewhere that it was 04 onwards or something for the programming ? also does anybody know if launch software has the ability to programme ?

cheers

Andy

hi guys
I have an 07 facelift model and yes the roof/window activation is enabled to open from a distance, but the activation to close again is only available as far as I am aware by turning the key in the door lock this is because it is a safety feature and not advisable to instigate a closing action just in-case occupants are still in the vehicle ....

This is why you have to go to an indi as BMW wont activate it.

My mate has a 335i convertible and he can close the roof off the key. So what is the safety issue with the Z4 that doesn't apply to the metal roof?? Unless it has a sensor to detect something in the way??

The 335i will have Comfort Access, which allows closing too.

I went with a module from Techtronics to open and close it by hitting the corresponding button on my key three times. I never have to sit like a tool in my car to close the roof, and then have to crawl out in a tight parking space :)
