Remote roof/hood opening and closing

I have Gap-Tech installed for remote roof operation and one touch (one of the best mods ever), however since my last key died and I had it replaced the opening and closing function with the remote no longer works. What's even stranger is that the one touch function inside the car still does work.

I've just worked my way through all the codes in NCS Expert and enabled comfort opening and closing (I can't spell the German word for it) and I know the coding was successful because all of the other options I enabled work, but still I can't open and close the roof with the remote. Again opening from inside the car does still work.

Just to clarify;

For Gap-tech pressing three times to open does nothing and holding the button down for comfort opening does nothing, same for the reverse (Just to be sure I'm following the correct procedures).

If I were to conclude myself I'd say the two must be related, but someone with better knowledge of the system may be able to tell me different.

Does anyone know what my issue may be? Is it the new key? I really don't want to lose this feature!

Cheers.

Ask mike, he must have supplied those keys to others with gaptec equipped cars :?

As I said on Whatsapp Jay, I have same key and a Gaptech on mine and works fine, done a few others for people with them too, and no problems. Obvs, new key just sends the lock/unlock command to the receiver/GM5 module, and as it's locking/unlocking the car fine, I think the problem could be elsewhere. Just check that the red LED (around the BMW logo) is illuminating when pressing the key, as could be the battery - You never know how long these things have been on the shelf in warehouses..

Thanks Mike I'll do some investigating. The Led is working. Maybe it's a connection within the centre console where the Gap-tech is installed as it's not long since I had the whole lot out to swap over the trim.

Did you solder in gaptech or scotchlocks? I only used the latter and sometimes it just stops working for days

Just scotchlocks so I think its worth checking them. It could just be a dodgy connection which sounds similar to yours, I can't remember if it was before or after the new keys that I got it to go down once but not back up and nothing since.

If it's worked once using new keys then I'd be checking those connections and soldering them in. Gap-tech module have been known to fail too, I had mine replaced after it started causing all sorts of strange problems,and I know others in here have had issues.

So, just to confirm..

It wasn't an issue with the keys I supplied?

According to your post.. https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=106036

The key needs coding to the car. Had a similar thing recently - used my second key and the auto shut suddenly didn't work. Chris (at the recent cafe meet) coded the key to the car a hey presto.....sorted!

Not that you bothered to check everything worked before leaving. :thumbsdown:
