Remote key not opening the driver side door?

Seems to be a common problem on other BMWs but hardly heard of on Z4s but recently pressing the door open on the remote doesn't pop my driver side door :( Workshop said it's not the acuator but I have to change the whole central locking system.. anyone else has this issue?

Are you pressing the unlock button twice???

One of the programmable options in all BMWs that I have ever known in my lifetime is to have the driver's side door ONLY unlock on first key press, to get the other doors to unlock you need to press it a second time within a few seconds. If you don't like that option, you can have the dealer just unprogram it.

I wish it was that simple flyboyj & it's my passenger side door that only opens while the driver side is locked lol, there are some error codes poping regarding the driver side door when plugged in to the OBC and the only way to fix it currently is to change the central locking controller which costs about $US 300. Problem is still currently intermittment and I'm hoping that some reprogramming will fix it shortly. Thanks.

I am experiencing the exact same problem at the moment, will your onlock manually with the key ???, mine did for a time but now it won't so i have cahnged the actuator for a new one and the problem still exists???however it will now unlock manually with the key ???????

Hi there, did anyone manage to fix this issue? My car has just started to have a similar issue, the passenger door doesn't always open with the remote. I don't have double stage locking enabled. Sometimes the passenger door opens and sometimes it doesn't.

It's recently been to BMW and had the door casing of to repair a dent, don't know if anything is trapped or has a loose connection....

Anyone managed to resolve this issue, my car is now doing the exact same thing.. Its so annoying!!

Is it an easy fix or something that needs to be done by a dealer?

ANy help much appreciated!

Yes this issue is annoying and so far the only fix still available is to change the entire central locking module which costs around 300 usd, lucky for me the problem comes and goes and I'm fine so far since I posted this 1st June, *crosses my fingers* :? If your car in under warrenty and the moment first signs of this problem occurs i strongly advised sending it back to the dealers asap.

Since you have error codes showing it sounds like you have the problem tracked down - Guess you can wait for a breaker to come up.

One other thought - is the door pin operating smoothly? I ask only because one time I removed my inner door trim and refitted it. I did not get the door pin correctly aligned and it was pinched so did not allow the door to open. Gave the impression that the mechanism was not working.

There's a good thought, I did force in my door pin accidently before when winding down my windows and reaching out to grab stuff :( I have no idea how to remove my door trims tho. Anyway since error codes are actually poping up saying the central locking is at fault, I'll give that the benefit of the doubt.. hopefully all goes well.

Oh great! Now my passenger door does not always unlock. Sometimes it does sometimes it doesn't, no matter how many times I press the button...

I'm on right hand drive so by passenger door it means my driver side so yea.... I think we all have the SAME issue :(
