Gradually working through problems with my new (to me) Z4.It is going back into the garage I bought it from to have the non locking fuel flap sorted, the non-existent handbrake adjusted (new MOT.) and you need to pull the handbrake up past 45* to get minimum handbrake "bite", and a slight water leak into the drivers side footwell sorted.
BMW garage "sorted" a problem with the lock mechanism to this door, and did not reclip door card properly.
I think they buggered up the plastic membrane..the leak is between the inner door surface and the door card. Luckily it is easy to spot due to the doorcard not being reattached properly! :x
One of the remotes is not working and the other is not holding a charge. To amuse myself I opened the non working remote using a Very fine toothed Gent's saw. Very little damage...just a chunk out of my thumb
I cannot see how the remote could ever have been functioning properly. One of the two soldered battery connections is completely snapped and the other is a "dry joint'. So much for BMW quality control. Remote is 9 years old so time for a new rechargeable battery and then solvent adhesive to put the case back together. After I have programmed the key using the working key I will replace the other battery. It should be easier to open the second case now I can see what I am doing.
I will post photo's of this. Can anyone point me to instructions on how to post pics PLEASE?
