Hi forum, need some help - regular forum reader but never registered - however really struggling with this one - trawled most threads but can't fix it!!! (2004 3.0i SE)
Remote locking all working fine until I ripped the hood out to replace the motor and relocated it to boot - all back together but remote locking now not working – cut the diamond key apart last night and the existing battery is showing 3.3v dropping to 3.1v when you press any of the fob buttons so looks like key fob is ok (only got 1 key).
Internally the central door locking button works and deadlocks/unlocks both doors + boot button opens boot from inside, so to my mind either the remote sensors not picking up a signal or I’ve not reconnected something as a result of replacing the hood – but not been anywhere near the remote sensor which I believe is in the rear view mirror.
Followed a couple of threads on here, but now really clutching at straws - a while back I laid the car up when I changed the gearbox oil and the battery went flat - subsequently the air bag light came on after recharging the flat battery. Central locking all still fine until I ripped the roof out about 3 weeks ago.
So my question would the air bag control unit trick the ECU/central locking module into thinking its deployed the airbags as the air bag light is on and not allow the car to lock – or are there any sensors within the door locking mechanism/door card that would inhibit the central locking sensing the doors were open I may of not reconnected or broken or a hidden inhibitor switch in the boot?
One thing I can’t sus out is there are 2 electrical components either side of the hood that sit right at the top of the ram assembly but under a rubber cover – they look as if something should close down on them from the frame assembly when its closed – I did break one of the connection but re soldered it but as there’s a rubber cover I can’t see what they do or how they would be connected to the remote – red herring perhaps!!
Any advise would be most welcome!!!
