remapping

just joined the forum but have had a 3.0 si coupe for 18 months, it puts a smile on my face everytime i drive it {every day}. take it to santa pod to sprint it on the quarter mile strip when i can. got a couple of quotes to get it remapped and they came in at £500 for an extra 12bhp! doesnt sound value per bhp to me but im young, a novice and bloody tight :!: any advice appreciated

Apparently the 3.0 is already doing the best it can - not heard of anybody getting much more to be honest.
You would get 12hp with a good service and air filter replacement probably.
I say enjoy what you have and think about the //M if you need more (that is what I'm doing) :D

sounds fair ben, the m would do the trick! been going through some tyres recently, opted to save money by replacing rear tyres with non run flats and keeping fronts as run flats [based on the rubber im going through when sprinting] what a disaster on the open road and under braking, cheap tyres not so great, question is, return to run flats all round or replace them with a better quality standard tyre?

They aren't worth the money.

The smart advise is always put the £500 toward a supercharger or Z4M ;)

what did you put on?

put the money towards good tyres & brake pads / discs. ive just done the tyres to falken fk452's - its almost the law round here to have the fk452's and a stubby ariel lol

im pretty impressed with the improvement in grip, its improved my braking, more confident im going to stop from speed, i thought the ebc green stuff pads im currently running were a bit naff, but i think it was more to do with my front tyres being shot. so far ive spend £400 odd on ebc ultimax discs and green stuff pads all round, £387 on tyres and its the best money ive spent, ive only got the 2.5 but im happy how it drives now, more posh go kart than boneshaker.

price on tyres sounds good, when you have had tyres replaced have you had a problem with the laquer on the edge of the wheels cracking? had to get bmw to replace them, but i wonder about the fitters where i go :?

That is what my plan will be if I don't upgrade to an M.
When I did a track day, it was the brakes that let the car down - not the power.
