Reluctant Starter

When Ive gone to start the car of late I have found that it doesnt start first time. Dash board lights up but the engine doesn't start. There's no noise at all while doing this. I then pull the key out and try starting it again and it starts fine.

Any idea of what could be causing this? Battery in Key, Starter motor or something else?

If you have a search re the ignition key switch you will find it's very common and not too tricky or expensive to replace. There are other possibilities but you will see that it's the most likely with your intermittent symptoms.

Put a code reader on it and see what codes are set, bad camshaft sensor can be a cause of reluctant starting, forgot to reconnect mine after doing some work and it was reluctant to start, reconnected camshaft sensor and starting on first turn of the key restored it to first turn starting.

Thanks all. Ive purchased a second hand ignition switch as my first attempt at sorting this out, as its probably the cheapest option.
