Relocation of roof motor E85 and refurb near Norfolk uk

Hi I have just purchased 2007 2.0 sport and usual roof issues unclips fine. It doesn't go any further. Been quoted between £120-150 to get done but requires a 400 mile round trip. Anyone who is within striking distance of deepest Norfolk able to do and give me a price I cannot refuse. The Z4 was laid up for several months and not used so I imagine water is the issue.

Your going to travel to get it done.

A group of us had Mike (ducklakeview) come over for a day try searching 'Cambridge roof day'. Members will relocate cheaper than the price you've been quoted. There are five or so members who will do this Kent; Hampshire; Bristol may be nearest to us. Also Liverpool and Durham. Make it a good day out - the move only takes about half an hour or go visit some relations for a weekend.

Or see if you can get your own group together - there was another forum member from Norwich asking a couple of weeks back

... and by the way - welcome to the forum. Why not post in the newbie section with some photos

Yeah that was me who asked! I will keep you updated as I have a very good mechanic friend who I've asked to do it for me and his brother has a Z4 too!

Where in Norfolk are you?

Hi, I'm in Suffolk and need mine done too. I might travel to Camberley as there's a highly recommended repairer there.

Thanks for the responses I live just outside fakenham so I would be interested in a rough price from jock 156 and once mot'd would be willing to travel any day as off work until 15th June.

You've got a good start here lads. I think we had about eight or nine and Mike came over from Liverpool for the day. Another week or so and you can grow this into a good deal for all of you

Harry - or anyone else for that matter - have a good link with pics of whats involved?

Just so I can print it off to show my mate so he can price up what parts he needs, which I'm gusseing its just clips and a few extra inches of pipes/ wires etc for the relocation.

TIA

In most cases its not the parts its access from inside the boot without removing the roof. As I understand the difficulty is removing the cable ties that hold the electrics and hydraulics (unseen) without damaging them -the whole assembly can then be swung into the boot. Most peoples motors are already wet (it sits in a plastic bucket which collects water if the drain is blocked) but still works. Some have to be revived or the hydraulic lines are rotted through.

Loads of threads if you search 'roof motor relocation'

Just a heads up! I've printed off the detailed "How to" and passed it onto my mate to have a look and see if he is up for it.

So I haven't forgotten about it!

All UK models had electric roofs (USA didnt). Whereabouts are you based and then we can advise who is best placed to have a look at it for you?
