Relocating hood motor to the boot

I made the 400 mile round trip today to have my roof motor relocated to the boot. Dave the mechanic did a great job and just in time too, the motor was completely submerged in water. It's now tucked away nice and dry in the boot and covered with a piece of matching carpet so you would never know it was there. A long drive but for £80 and a tank of petrol, it was a no-brainer.

I think we should form a motor in the boot by Dave club, there must be enough of us on here who have been to visit Dave

d3matt - Do you have any more details for Ross Bowes please? Internet isn't coming up with anything useful. Ta

Got mine moved to the boot by Dave on Monday as I was working in the area for a couple of days. As it happened he said my motor was very clean ( well my zed is a garage queen now) but it gives me peace of mind that it won't be getting wet at all, and is easily accessed now that it's in the boot. Couldn't quite get there and back on a tank full of fuel (390 miles ). I can really recommend him, a very obliging chap

It's Bowser, Ross is a BMW tech and lives in Yateley. Message him on here

I had my motor re-located on Monday at Daves too.

Was alittle surprised the satnav took me to his home address as i thought he would have a grande garage somewhere, but he told me hes been doing the mod at home lately and thats fine by me. Anyway i took the dog for a walk around the estate and in less than 45 mins it was all done!

He said the drain pipes had blocked up and it was a good job i got to him sooner rather than later as the water level was dangerously close to the motor. He cleared the pipes and also removed the rubber plugs at the bottom as they were the main culprits for trapping dirt and hence causing the blockage.

Daves a delightful chap and tells it like it is. I told him it was ashame he was so far away as im sure he would be my go to guy should anything needed doing on my Zed.

I would recommend having this mod done asap. The drive maybe a tad long for some (mine was 400+ round trip) but its a nice route on the A1 and if anything, the drive helped the engine to loosen up nicely.

At a risk of Hi-jacking the topic, i did notice some wind noise from near the back of the drivers window as i hit motorway speed, Dave said the rubber seals around the area looked abit dry and advised to apply some vaseline to soften it up. Since then, i have read up on similar problems and have ordered some Gummi Pflege as they seem to help restore rubbers, so fingers crossed.

Anyone know if bowser is still around these days? Can't seem to get hold of him, and doesn't look like he has posted anything for a while. Looking for motor relocation by someone nearer to Surrey area than Dave in Durham. Cheers

I am in South London over the next 5 weeks and I have managed to complete the relocation myself, if I am free and able I will provide people with help. I am in no way an expert though!

Not just Dave, there are quite a few others that do this too :)
Anyone know of someone in Shropshire, Staffordshire, Cheshire areas? Otherwise it's about a 400 mile round trip to Durham or a 390 mile round trip to Hook.

I did the trip to Durham from Shropshire, a very long boring motorway drive there and back but I thought well worth it. I believe there is someone in Bristol that does it which is half the distance but charges more I think.
