I changed the two salmon roof relays the other day, removed the boot floor cover and then moved an emergency tyre pump I have slotted in next to the battery over to the left hand side of the boot to get to the electrical connectors, then realised the relays weren’t there so looked around the pump and spotted them just behind the pump, easy job to unclip and change, jumped in the car and lowered the roof,
just as it was settling there was an awful crunching sound, so I quickly let go of the button and pressed the close button, once the roof had closed I jumped out and inspected the boot, on the left hand side sat the tyre inflator, in my haste to try the roof I had forgotten about It,
on inspection there was a 50p sized hole in the body of the pump, luckily the inflator, which I haven’t even used still works and there doesn’t appear to be any damage to the roof, it just goes to show how easy it is to inadvertently leave something at the sides of the boot with the potential to cause some very expensive damage
