Relaxation in CHRIS KNOTT age and experience criteria

There's really good news for many of the members we've previously had to turn down - we've kept on the case with insurers and have been able to negotiate a relaxation of the age & experience criteria for the club scheme.

These are the changes from the old requirements where we had them on certain models:

OLD RULES - 25+ with 12 months' experience of the car or one of similar performance.
NEW RULES - 25+ with 6 months' experience.

OLD RULES - 25+ with 24 months' experience or 30+ if only 12 months' experience.
NEW RULES - 25+ with 12 months' experience.

OLD RULES - 30+ with 12 months' experience.
NEW RULES - 28+ with 12 months' experience.

There's still some way to go but it's good that we at least have these concessions.

Remember to include us in the mix when looking around for quotes. We're still signing up 40% of quotes offered - there won't be many in the industry that can say that.

We're able to quote some L postcodes now but the list is quite long so insurers won't issue it. We're left with whether the computer offers a quote for that postcode when we enter your details - not that we necessarily use the computer's rate as they're invariably too high.

Does that make sense?

It does, and means I can add you to my 'ringaround' list come December

So you don't insure ANYbody under 25?

Can anyone recommend any insurers other than the comparison sites and admiral for a 21 year old :)

Elephant were the best by about £800 for me at 20.

So, to be clear reading down, are your stipulations for :

2.5l and below
3.0l
3.2l M ?

No, all Z4's (regardless of engine size or designation) will be 28 with 12 months experience.

I included the other categories as members often ask us to also quote for other cars that are not their 'club' cars.

Wait, when I phoned up in May for a quote on my 3.0 you told me I needed 12 months experience and to be 25, so I was going to try you next year, you even mentioned to try you next year.

You're now telling me it's 28? lol that's not a relaxation.

swiftcover are often quite competitive for younger drivers.

Sorry, whoever told you that was wrong. Z4s are all 28.

Why 28? Seems odd.

I had no problem getting insured on a z4 with admiral at 24. I'm now 25 and again, no problem.

The insurers we have on board are happy to reduce the age requirement from 30 but are still nervous about going below 28. Thankfully, it looks like we'll soon have another provider that will allow us to quote for age 25 on Z4s. :)

Chris Knotts can quote you even younger
As intimated in my last post we have further great news for members - we now have a provider on board that will quote at lower driver ages.

For young drivers we can now offer cover at age 19 for Comprehensive on most non-performance models and smaller/older hot-hatches. You must have held a full licence for 12 months and have at least one year's NCB.

This new facility also means that we can now quote Z4s for drivers aged 25 and over. The provider is also adopting the experience requirement we have in place so you'll need to have 12 months' experience of the vehicle or one of similar performance. This will help us to protect the account in these early days.

Chris Knotts can quote your postcode
On the postcode side of things we can now quote SK1-12 where this was previously a no-no - insurers have agreed to open up those postcodes (though there may be parking requirements for some postcode sub-sectors).

Along with the M, L, and OL postcode relaxations we've already notified you about, we're really pleased to be able to bring you these extra positive changes.

It's great when you can see proof that we're working harder to assist more car club/forum members - in this case, removing some of the barriers to you getting a competitive quote from us if you're otherwise a safe risk.

Please pick up the phone and ask us to quote when your renewal is due.

Don't forget to mention the club code below to make sure you receive the full club scheme benefit.

But not a Z4?

Sounds good, I'll give you a try when my renewal is up in dec, and if you can beat £430 for a 34 year old with 12 years no claims in Surrey you'd get my business.

It's a shame you still can't quote for under 25s though, there are plenty of younger Z4 drivers out there, other insurance companies seem to be able to offer cover for them, it seems more like a disadvantage for you more than anything.
