im all for less car use but realistically this country cannot cope with mass migration to public transport. we are set up for private cars. unless your willing to spend hrs on public transport or you can realistically walk you need a car. with the exception of london where i found i was ok or your one of small % who live on a transport route.

Here's why....
This is why the price probably wont fall much further, even though the cost of oil is now currently running between $56 and $61 a barrel. I think it will bottom out at around £1.05 a litre.

doesnt duty and vat also fall with cost of oil as its a % value. what will screw us is the govt will reintroduce the 1/2yrly price duty escalator under the pretext that its all a bit cheaper now.
the long run for this is an over all more expensive price in yrs to come as govt will shove on more tax/duty to claw back dropping revenue, when it does go back up to $80-90 per barrel these will not be reversed just suspended. the only people going to benefit is our ruling class and the oil Co.
