Reinhold "One Touch" Ordered

Well you obviously know what you are doing as you know how to use a meter, so we can assume the wiring and connections are correct. The only thing I would say is that I had to hold the button down as normal the first time, I presume to reset it? If all this fails I suspect it can only be a faulty unit, but I would slowly double check the wiring first as it can be easy to make a mistake there. Best of luck.

Thanks for the help mate, probably going to start from scratch and triple check all wiring again at the weekend before I send it back, will let you know if I solve the issue, has been puzzling me all day and most likely all week............

2 things come to mind having now fitted 3 of these for people:

1) Andreas only ever has problems when people try to connect them trying to use mechanical fixings instead of solder. Did you solder the joints?

2) The connector that white and yello wires connect to from memory goes into a plug that has at least 2 wires of almost identical colour coding. Did you get the right one and check it by reading the pin numbers?

Thanks CJ. That is really helpful.

I did solder (I used scotch locks at first but got annoyed fiddling half way through and got out the iron)

I will triple check the pin connections at the weekend. The yellow wire connects to blue / red (pin22) and and white wire connects to white / black (pin 20).......lets hope that is where the mistake is.

Thanks again

Without pulling my wiring diagram out I can't remember the pin numbers and codes, so assume you read those correctly off supplied instructions.

I remember them being tricky litte critters and up behind the glove box and there certainly being more than one possible same colour combo wires and more similar eg black/white and white/back

Out of curiosity, you didnt mess around with the setting of the pots too much did you?

Only on one and it was just a case of tweaking it to get the best response.
Mine now works a dream from 50 to 100m away (as proved to the guys in the Lakes over a beer or 2) and never misses a beat with 2 years service to date.

Thanks for all the help on this forum. Got the module working :-)

Only issue now is the roof motor has decided to stop......oh well guess the bank balance will have to take a sacrifice. Well worth it

What have you done? Flattened the battery, or run it up and down to thr point of burning out the motor?

Some modules had pots, others didn't.

The module I got did not, and got nowhere with replies from Reinhold (i.e. they never replied to any emails). At the time, I got an eOpen instead which worked fine.

CJ - no the motor was on it's way out before I ordered the module. Started making a really loud noise when closing and stopping half way. Now when you open you can hear the motor running but the roof does not open. It sounds like it is trying to 'catch' the roof. Eventually it does catch it and the roof opens.

Gookah - not exactly sure hat the pots do, but when varied then readings on the multimeter range between a max and a min

Aaahh thats what confused me, my module has no pots....

I don't have the one touch module...but the roof remote module has the pots. I don't think the one touch does...but I may stand corrected

Yes - that's correct. I have both and no pots on the 'one touch'. Some 'remotes' (like mine) have them to tune the system sensitivity so it works well.

Do you need both the Remote and One Touch Modules? Looking at this now.

I have mine modded to take the roof down, when i hold the button down already, but fancy something simples :P

The one touch module allows you to retract / put up the roof by pressing the respective button once when sittig in the car rather than keeping it held. It also allows operation of the roof at a higher speed (not sure of the exact value) compared to the OEM 5mph.

The roof remote module allows you to open and close the roof using the key by using the same relay that is used to open and close the roof when you put the key in the lock.

Both are independent of each other

Anyone looked into the prospect of a group buy to try and get some discount?

Yes 2 1/2 years ago I did a group buy fitted some of them to cars in the UK (inc both modules in mine) and took some to the US with me on a trip, where they cannot be sold due to product liability laws.

Contact Andreas Rheinhold direct and I'm sure he'll do a you a deal.
