Reinhold Fitting Tips

Its arrived the moring, any advice on fitting.

Not sure I will be up to job so might be more GSI than DIY.

It's the simplest install job you can imagine. Should have full instructions with it. Just take your time to identify the right wires to connect to.

One thing to do is ensure you solder the joints. 99.9% of problems with these modules are due to using mechanical connectors (ie scotchlock) according to Andreas Reinhold.

AS CJ says very easy, IIRC only one of the modules requires you to cut one wire other than that it solder or scotchlock them. I used a combination of both.

If your using a soldering iron though do not use a mains powered one though otherwise you will earth the car and could cause damage (so I was told)

I am waiting for my free Intravee fix for that one ... (together with the auto folding mirror).

I think this will be cool mod, just dont have the balls to do it my self.

Might get it done by the guy who is fitting my Parrot 9200 :)

Is there an ETA in these mods PVR and what will the roof one do exactly one touch and remote?

No ETA, and no idea about functionality. It is all about what the codes are which are transmitted to the car.

If the roof-open transmits a code, that code can be captured and used in the Intravee I imagine. Probably a pipe dream for a while ...

Apologies for hijacking the post. Why don't people just take their car to an indy who has Autologic and get him to enable the roof open \ close through the remote, its cheaper and alot less hassle in my opinion.

because the indi cannot program one touch open and close and the remote option requires you to hold the button until the roof has opened or closed where as the reinhold option you just press the button 3 times.

Because you have to stand by the car like a poser/muppet holding the button on the keyfob the whole time... you may as well put the key in the door lock if your going to stand and wait.
I too, had that done at an Indy for £25, I wish I had not bothered and put the £25 straight towards the Reinhold, I press my fob 3 times and walk away while it closes, or press it 3 times when I am approaching and it opens while I am getting in, great when you have arms full of shopping, and it makes it 'properly' remote.
One of the best mods I have done to the Zed. :driving:

Hold the button for five seconds!!! That should save a trip to the gym
If you're worried about standing there looking like a muppet get the misses to do it or turn away and put the fob behind your back.
I might write a book full of suggestions on how to do it
