Reinforment plate confusion

I've gone through a lot of posts in the archives of this forum and other Z4 forums concerning the need or lack of need for reinforcement plates and now I'm just confused.
What I've parsed out so far is some plates are needed but it comes down to opinion.
Some plates fit both Z4 and E46 cars but some E46 plates don't fit Z4's.
Some aftermarket sellers list plates that fit both series and some don't list Z4 at all even though their products do fit Z4.
Some sites don't even have Z4's listed in their "Choose your model"
What, do Z4's have cooties or something?
Does anyone know of a definitive list of what works with our cars?
Or maybe we could use this thread to make that list and have it all in one place.
Thanks

well, I had to look up cooties.. but its not what I expected... our colonies have strange use of our language!

Sorry I dont know the answer..

Here is the reply from Garagistic, they have a very complete kit for the e46, https://www.garagistic.com/collections/e46-performance-parts/products/e46-complete-chassis-reinforcement-kit-323-325-328-330-and-m3

My question was will this kit fit the e86,

Hey Chris,

We appreciate you reaching out to Garagistic support! When it comes to your question, we have not personally done reinforcements on Z4 here at the shop, but with this being said, in theory, your car should be basically all E46 suspension, so without being able to confirm fitment, I do think a majority of the E46 reinforcements would work for your application.

Sorry, I don't have an exact answer for you, but if you have any further questions please feel free to let me know! We hope you have a great rest of your Monday Chris.

Best Regards,
Mattson

Hi mate

A few questions

Front or rear plates?

Why do you want to fit them? Are you showing signs of metal fatigue or mushrooming of the turret?

As far as I know the E46 plates do fit the fronts when I was looking to do this on a previous car

Both, no signs so far that I know of but the PO of my car drove it hard and I just like to do preventive maintenance. Are you suggesting they are not needed? By the time there are signs of metal fatigue isn't that too late?
Not trying to argue, you guys are experts and I'm just here to learn.
Thanks

Just helps understand your motivation bud

And if I knew the car had a tough life, was keeping it and had doubts about the metal in those areas- I’d do the same.

Rears are simple reinforcing plates about £15 from eBay

Fronts- just double check but I’m 99% sure e46’s fit the towers
