Registration plates

Your best value are direct from dvla cherished plates from £250 inc all transfers.
Unless you're after something special.

I was trying to estimate the value of the plates I've got.
There seems a big variation in similar plates. I've got three more or less sequential plates and as one of the cars might be going I was thinking of selling a plate.

I agree that the DVLA site is the best value for buying - but they've got nothing like mine in stock!

There is a pecking order.
Basically the less digits the higher the value and letters before numbers are more valuable than numbers before letters.
i.e. ABC 1 is worth more than 1 ABC - I dont know why ! Anything with a single of each commands about £20k+

Dateless plates are obviously worth more than year plates and odd letters like XYZ are less sought after than common initials

I've got D5 , E5 and E6 all will the same three letter suffix and I'm unsure which one to part with.

If the three letters are your initials or don't make a name or similar I can't see there being a huge difference in price valuation.
What about selling the D5? the E5-6 could be a pair or the sell the E6 plate and keep the D-E 5 pair............ :-?

Its only £80 for 10 years retention if all else fails

That's the dilemma - either could be a pair!
As you say £80 for 10 years retention isn't a fortune.
The value on the web pages does vary !

What are the letters ? Put them up and see what offers you get ?

Bear in mind most sites don't buy it off you at the price quoted , they simply advertise it & you only receive funds & hand over the rights once a buyer comes forward
Unless the 3 letters say something like a name id say £300/£350 selling privately

That retention cert is looking good!
My granddaughter will have her grandpops or granny's plate !

i have 3 plates which i consider are matching, completely useless to anybody else but me

there is a 4th plate available and i keep thinking of buying just for if i get a 4th car lol, i really dont want a 4th car though lol

I have one plate, last time I had it valued was about 5-6 years ago and both companies I checked with said I should be looking at least £4k but it was on my grandads car then my dad's car and now mine so I doubt I'll ever sell it, hopefully pass it on tomorrow kids if I have any or to my niece if not, it's been in the family 30+ years so I'd like to keep it that way

i want 1 PVW, it used to be on a Mercedes butit does appear on any searches anymore, not sure if its been put on retention or if its just disappeared from the system
