Hmmmmmmmmm..... that's a dodgy one. NF stood for 'National Front' in my time and reminds me only of that, however if you're named Neil Francis then you're onto a winner.

Guess it's a personal thing!

Cheers JC :D

That's my boss' name - but he's got an e46 M3.

Not interested in that one, but have found the closest thing to my surname that I'm going to get! Many thanks for the heads up on this, I'm going to go to this next week.

There's a STU 888Y starting at £250 -- good one if you're called Stu and have a stubby. Oh wait....

Wouldn't put NFZ 4 on as it just looks like a NI reg. to me.

One caught my attention: P00IY
Perhaps works well on a portable loo truck??

Keep us posted.

I went to a few of these a couple of years back and found just as many people advertising plates and doing deals in the car park. Therefore, if you see anything outside, it's possibly for sale too... Take a pen and paper to leave a note if necessary !

Great shout! Thank you.

Funnily enough I did leave a note on the car that the plate I'm interested in was on - about 6 years ago! I spotted it whilst en route to pick up a different plate that I had purchased. Never heard anything back though!

How did you get on at the Auction and hiw was it generally ?

I went up to £1k on the plate I was interested in, but it sold for £1050 (+VAT, 8% and £80) so no good unfortunately

Everything seemed to be going for top dollar on the day

Close, but just pipped then - Shame.
Was there much business going on outside ? Many private sales/Ads ?

Yeah massive shame :-(
I didn't attend in person in the end as had other biz on in the afternoon so was bidding by telephone. But I don't think much biz happened outside the auction, because the auction itself was lively and hammer prices were considerably more than estimates - with multiple bids. There were only a handful of unsold lots.

I've never heard of it happening. I do have a friend who was pulled over on his bike as he had a number 4 that had been made to look like an A.

I believe you get pulled by the police and the DVLA is advised, rather than being prosecuted. You have to have new plates fitted and a certificate signed off at an approved centre.

More than a couple of strikes and the plates are taken back, but never heard of anyone having that step

Wife got stopped a few years ago had to do a producer get new plates and show the receipt. If this was not done the plates would be confiscated .
